Molecules

Molecules are particles consisting of 2 or more atoms.

 The composition of a compound is indicated by molecular formulas: H2O, two hydrogen- and one oxygenatom
  • water  H2O
  • carbon dioxide CO2 ,
  • methane CH4

Several elements consist of two or more atoms :

  • oxygen O2
  • nitrogen N2
  • chlorine Cl2

Sulfur consists of 8 atoms S8 , ozone O3 of 3 oxygen Atoms

Instead of  the molecular Formula, having the structural formula recognizes the arrangement of atoms in two dimensions.
